The Ride Partners with American Family Insurance on New Site Location

May 16th, 2019  |  The Ride

Madison, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin’s cancer research cycling benefit, The Ride, announces the annual event will now take place at the American Family Insurance headquarters at 6000 American Family Parkway in Madison on September 22, 2019.

The partnership with American Family Insurance will bring a heightened experience for the thousands of riders that will set foot on the company’s campus to start and finish their cycling journey while raising funds and awareness for cancer research at the University of Wisconsin.

American Family Insurance has been a longstanding cornerstone contributor to the University of Wisconsin, and we are grateful for their commitment in hosting The Ride on their corporate campus. Their leadership team demonstrates the power of corporate philanthropy and how it elevates the community and initiatives in which it resides.

-The Ride Director, Dr. Deric Wheeler

The Ride was started by The University of Wisconsin to engage the community and propel forward the most innovative cancer research. To date, it has generated nearly one-million dollars in its first three years and has funded over 30 professors, programs and students across the UW campus.  The initiative prides itself in providing one-hundred percent of its proceeds to local UW cancer research efforts through its generous support from community partners.

The Ride has energized the community’s philanthropy efforts through its cycling event while providing 100% of proceeds to elevate critical cancer research initiatives at the University of Wisconsin. Our team is proud to be part of this initiative.

-American Family Insurance Chair and CEO, Jack Salzwedel

Participants have the ability to register for any of the five routes (3-mile, 17-mile, 34-mile, 63-mile, 102-mile) which feature the same start and finish location. The 3-mile route, which is catered to adults and children will be solely contained within the American Family Insurance campus and will not utilize any public roads. In addition, the new site location and layout will offer increased participant on-site amenities such as parking, registration, packet pick-up, food and post-ride programming and entertainment.
